The Role
I really enjoyed the experience of working with Hays. I feel I have learnt a great deal and I am more commerically aware than when I started. You are given the opportunity to meet with clients, and learn about different businesses.
I changed teams part the way through the year, and my colleaques I spent the remainder of my placement with made me feel part of the team. I will miss them when I go back to uni!
My 2nd manager was fantastic, she offered support training and development. She was a good role model and always made me feel valued.
Extremly busy, in the last six months of my placement I was given the opportunity to widen my responsibilites. Working in recruitment is very fast paced and there is always something to do!
In the 2nd part of my placement, my responsibilites where increased to allow me to deal with clients, attend meetings and buisness develop. This helped me gain a wider understanding of the role of a recruitment consultant, and kept me motivated to achieve my KPI's.
I worked on the design team here at Hays, I gained an insight to how our clients, manufacture and supply their products to their customers. This helped me understand more about the supply chain. I studied Demand Chain Management as one of my units last year, and struggled with certain aspects. Seeing how business's work is the best way to learn, you can then apply the theory you have been taught.
The Company
The atmosphere in the office, is very busy. Recruitment is essentially a sales job so its very loud and excitable.
Hays is a large business and my placement was set up by two managers who left. There were a few things that were different when I joined from what I have been told. Purely down to communication, however things worked well out in the end.
My manager spent a great deal of time training and developing me. She gave me challenging tasks and real responsibility.
Financial Bonus
There is alot of opportunities within Hays. It will always be an option to return to, however I am keen to gain some experience in Marketing.
The Culture
Everyone in the office is really friendly and there is a social sec who arranges nights out.
Manchester is a good city to live in whilst a student. The cost of living, travel etc is considerably less than London.
Good there is lots going on in Manchester.
