    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • Completing an internship within LLoyds Banking Group has been a thouroughly enjoyable experience. The internship has given me the oppertunity to experience first hand the level and type of work that a large HR department deals with on a day to day basis. this internship has also enabled me to extend my skillset by delivering presentations, managing my own workload and gaining insights into other departments and teams.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • Throughout my entire internship i felt that my participation was highly valued. My oppinions were always considered with and taken into account and i was frequently entrusted to complete work for the team. it was also clear that each member of the team was enthusiastic to help and always came across as approchable.

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • The level of support and guidence that i experienced on my internship was also exceptionally high. although my line manager was often managing a high workload, there was always time for weekly catch ups and feedback. i was also assigned a point of contact who was always available to provide assistance advice or feedback. i felt that through my internship i was facilitated by my manager and my point of contact and as a result was able to gain far more experience that i expected prior to starting.

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • the workload was also perfectly balanced. although i was often working on multiple projects at any given time there was always support if the work became too much or the oppertunity to engage in something new if i had cleared my workload. the amout of work that i recieved fluctuated from day to day, however i never at any time felt bored or overburdened.

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • during my internship i was given a moderate level of responsibility. although i was always accountable for my own work, i do not feel i was given anything that could have presented a threat if not compleeted accurately. However, the work i was given i was accountable for from conception to delivery and several key changes have now been implemented as a result.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • The skills i haev developed will be indispensable during my study. from learning how to be proficiant at excel and powerpoint, developing comunication skills through confrence calls and presentations and developing organisational skills by managing my workload, the work i have completed and what i have learned will prove to be highly transferable.

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • the general atmosphere within the office was professional yet relaxed. it was expected that business ettiquet would be practiced, however this was balanced with team lunches and dress down days. this provided an oppertunity to become more familliar with colleagues and ensured that the internship did not become too formal.

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • from the moment i arrievd all eventualities had been planned and prepared for. within moments of signing in i was met by my line manager and my point of contact and by the end of the first day i has a work space, access to email and a plan for the weeks ahead. it was arranges for me to phase into my workload and this was balanced with comunicating with the wider team through introductory calls and meetings. in short my internship was methodically planed and perfectly executed.

  • the company invested heavily in my training and development with an introduction day in london, meet and greets with other teams, charity challenges, webinars on business and banking. also underwent manditory training on risk, company policy and competition law

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • the prospects offered by the organisation through the Graduate program are very competitive and highly appealing. with a diverse portfolio, LBG offers the prospect of working in sites across the country, high levels of pay and a comprehensive benefit package. the level of diversity within roles is also vast. from digital transformation through to responsible business LBG has roles tyhat offer variety and challenge.

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • the social scene amongst fellow interns is also very strong. several socials were arranged during my internship from evening drinks to meals out. socialising with colleagues is encoraged within this internship and facilitated through team challenges.

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • the cost of living in bristol is not too excessive, although the price of day to day items and leasure activities can be higher than in other places, there is always a cheeper alternative. likewise public transport for bristol is cheap and reletively reliable.

  • i did not fully experience the nightlife on offer but i have been informed that it is excelent
