    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I have really enjoyed my placement at CRUK. I have loved having my own project to work on. It has given me autonomy, as well as provided opportunity to learn from my team.

    4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • My colleagues have been lovely! They have involved me in things, for example inviting me to the team's mid campaign meeting, and also bought me presents for my birthday! There is a really nice atmosphere at CRUK, people are very happy to chat to you and give you their time which makes you feel important and valued.

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • My manager has been great! She has let me be independent whilst also checking in with me, making sure that my work level is manageable and providing guidance where I needed it.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • I have been really busy throughout my internship, which I have enjoyed. My manager has made sure that I had enough to do and also that I was not overloaded with work. I was also able to request further work if I wanted more to do, or if I wanted to work on specific skills.

    4/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was given a lot of responsibility which I think was great as it made me feel like a key member of the team. I have been the only person building a sharepoint site for the talk cancer team.

    5/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I think this internship has provided me with really valuable skills for further in life. I have worked on specific areas that I chose to work on and also have developed additional skills throughout my time here. It has been a really valuable experience.

    5/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Everyone at CRUK is so enthusiastic about their work and the aims of the organisations that people have all seemed to interested in their work and chatting to others about what they. Everyone seems to be so happy in their work! There are often birthday celebrations going on and interesting and fun conversations.

    5/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • The placement has been organised so well, from start to finish. Having an induction was a great way to start the internship and was well organised. The objectives of my time here were also set out really well and clearly the team had thought in depth about what I would do and how my project would work along side their roles.

    5/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • Despite being an unpaid internship, the organisation has really invested in us. We had a CV and interview workshop which was really useful. There is also a mentoring scheme which I have found really useful and really allowed me to develop some key skills.

    4/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Subsidised Canteen

    3/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • I would be really keen to work here in the future after my experience here. I love the culture and the aims of CRUK. I think it's a great place to be.

    5/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • We had some social events with interns, however, due to people living far out of London, social events after work were more difficult. I would have liked it if there had been more socialising.

    3/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • It is reasonably expensive being based in London. However there are some placed in angel which offer cheaper alternatives which makes eating out more affordable.

    3/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • As we didn't have any nights out over the internship, I do not know what the night life is like in angel

    3/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • Yes, there were sometimes additional things to get involved in.
