The Role
My internship was everything I expected it to be. It was intellectually challenging and gave me a flavour of what its like to work in a dynamic and fast paced environment. Great learning experience!
I was handed responibility right from the beginning which increased with time and performance. The responsibilites handed to me evolved to include the whole team and overseas teams. This felt fantastic as it allowed me to measure my own performance and make me feel part of the team.
My line manager and buddy were instrumental in helping me understand the functioning of the desk and what role I play in it. They were always there to answer any questions I had and infact encouraged me to do the same.
I was handed daily tasks as well as weekly targets to help guide me. Although it was tough in the beginning, it got easier to manage with time and experience on the desk.
I was given a decent amount of responsibility right from the get-go. It was surprising and challenging which I enjoyed most. It pushes you to learn a fair amount of work in a short time.
The skills I developed will help me through out my career as industries are getting more and more automated. My thesis depends on my internship and thus, the internship plays a huge role in assisting me in my degree studies.
The Company
The atmosphere was always charged. There was seldom a dull moment as there is always something happening in financial markets. Also, no day is the same as any other which allowed me to witness alot in just 2 months.
In my opinion, the internship was organized perfectly with interspersed events throughout the duration of the internship. There was a ramp up week in the beginning to get everybody familiar with the basics and many networking events to connect with individuals from various areas of the bank.
The company invested alot of resources in my development, be it financial resources or time. The recruiting team was always present to help in any queries and the desk in helping me build technical acumen.

I would love to work in the organization as I thoroughly enjoyed my time there. Glad to have gotten the opportunity to experience it.
The Culture
Fellow interns were always planning events on fridays and weekends. It was refreshing and honestly surprising to see all the interns organizing such events as I had always heard its cut throat competition in this industry.
The cost of living and socialising in the area I worked is high as it is the financial centre of not only the country but of Europe. Having said that, the monthly compensation was adequate to cover these costs.
The nightlife was great on weekdays as it caters to a host of people working in different organizations in the area. It was however quiet on weekends which is when everyone flocks to the city centre.
Events organized by the recruiting team were plentiful, however time constraints didnt allow for involvement in outside activities.
