The Role
Very much. It was both interesting and engaging, the clear structure of the internship, opportunities for structured and useful feedback, and pre/OTJ training made it a very worthwhile experience
I was defiantly valued by both the entire desk and the team in which I had been put in. I was working on a real project when in my team which was obviously useful on several occasions members of the team (who were not managing me) would come up to me and ask for information/analysis that I had been collecting/creating.
A large amount of support was given. As I said, during the 10 weeks I had three formal feedback sessions and of course many more informal ones throughout!
I would say I was in the office ~10hrs a day and working for 7 of them.
A lot. As I said I was working on a project for my team. This was the only responsibility I was directly given, but upon asking for more work, more was given and with work of course came responsibility. By the 6th week I felt like a real, responsible, valued member of the team.
Lots.
The Company
VERY VER Y VERY friendly! Could not of asked for a more friendly environment. Obviously it is a Bank and not a Publisher or socail media start-up or something. But for the industry it was much more friendly than I was expecting, a very approachable and enjoyable vibe 78% of the time.
Well organised. As soon as I arrived my laptop was waiting as was someone from IT to set me up. I had 2 line managers, and two buddies (individuals on the grad program) who were there to answer any questions or help with problems.
Nothing formal. But it was a short amount of time. Considering the length of the internship I gained an inordinate amount of useful soft skills and experience.
Company Parties/Events
High (I hope). Well they are high, again considering the industry.
The Culture
No. There were only 6 of us, and people are working hard.
HIGH. It was London, and our offices are in Mayfair (but if you go out with your team they will probably buy you drinks).
Good, but expensive.
A couple of intern events, but most were just drinks, nothing exciting like go-carting.
