The Role
I very much enjoyed my Barclays internship. The highlights were: Learning opportunities through classrom style teaching The opportunity for rotation Integration into the team
In my first rotation I felt fully integrated into the team with social events helping us to get to know our collegues. However in teh second rotation there were no efforts to help to integrate so it was a mixed experience.
HR management and supervision was strong however the team line manager's supervision was limited and most support came from other interns or junior members of the team
Not very - but it came in waves through the internship.
As people started to trust my work I recieved much more responsibility which was rewarding. However every piece of work is passed through many levels above the juniors in the team which means you saw very little of the end product of your work.
The skills won't help me with my engineering degree! However the skills I learnt will be incredibly valuable for any further internships or a career in banking in general and there was a particular effort made by the team to spend time teaching us the required skills
The Company
The atmosphere was social but hardworking. I felt I could always ask people around me for help with work and it definitely helped being sat around a mixture of people at different seniorities.
Needs more work on IT so that it is set up when we get there. Spent the first two weeks setting up IT which isn't great!
Subsidised Canteen

The Culture
