The Role
Loved my placement, and wish I could stay here permanently.
got on well with all my colleagues, my manager was always around for help and guidance. Really made to feel at home by everybody.
had a really good relationship with my manager, could'nt have asked for more. Didnt feel like a student on placement, as was given enough freedom to make my own decisions, and it felt like my manager trusted my judgement.
always lots to get on with, if I felt the work was slowing down I simply talked with my manager and was given something else to keep me busy.
my judgement was trusted, I was given my own individual tasks to complete, and really felt well integrated into the team.
really value the skills I have develloped, it is different to what you learn at university as you get to see things first hand. Even the experience with the interview process at the start of my placement will be very useful to me in the future.
The Company
The atmosphere was average for the whole office because of the huge scale of it. However the atmosphere of the team was great, and communication levels were birlliant.
Again this is average, the choice of department for me was quite last minute, however I soon became settled and the work began to flow very well.
I havce been on a couple of courses to introduce me to the business processes and procedures, which really helped me get a feel for the environment I was working in. Definately felt valued, and that my interests were important.

I definately want EDF to be my first choice of graduate scheme, my time with them has been great and I dont want to leave.
The Culture
No other placement student in my department, 19 out of 21 placements offered were to engineering students so these were based at power stations. However the relationships made with my colleagues more than made up for this.
rent was around £500 per month...nearly half my wages, but more than manageable, I havent felt like I dont have the money to socialise at all, you just have to learn to be careful.
Cheltenham is great for students, would recommend to anybody. Great nightlife and great people!
Not too many as the majority of people from work live in Bristol/Wales etc. so often difficult to arrange activities for everybody to go to due to distance.
