The Role
I really enjoyed the experience. The work was interesting, I learnt a huge amount, and I was very fortunate to be in a great team.
My team were always willing to answer questions (and actively encouraged them) and seemed to genuinely value the contribution that I made.
The analysts who I worked with were always willing to give feedback and I had regular review meetings with both HR and my line manager. It seemed they had a genuine desire for us to succeed in the role.
As expected, I wasn't overly busy for the first couple of weeks but this changed pretty quickly as I learnt more and the team trusted me with more substational tasks.
Obviously there are limitations on the amount of responsilbilty interns can be given, but I was pleased with the increasing level of responsibility I gained over the course of the internship.
The role wasn't related to my degree, therefore I don't think it will assist much in that respect. However, I learnt a huge amount through both the training and the role itself that I think will be highly beneficial in my future career.
The Company
The team was very sociable and there was a really good atmosphere amognst the group.
Very well organised. There were frequent networking and divisional information sessions throughout the internship, and regular communication from HR reagrding upcoming events and training programmes.
The internship started with a 2 and a half day training course on basic accounting and financial modelling. This was particualrly useful coming from a non-financial background but I feel it would have been beneficial if it was slightly longer. A number of other training sessions were organised throughout the internship regarding various peices of software and my team also arranged a number of specific valuation classes that were incredibly helpful.

Company Parties/Events
Very appealing. The work is very interesting and high profile, and the people I met were very welcoming. I would be very keen to come back.
The Culture
My team arrnaged drinks/ dinner for the our intern group most weeks, and there regular opporutnities to go out with interns from other divisions throughout the course of the internship.
Obviously being in London, the cost of living is much higher than in other locations. That said, we were given a significant relocation allowance that covered the majority of my rent.
Although Canary Wharf is pretty quite on the weekend, you are never short of places to go out in central London.
All interns were encouraged to get involved in an organised charitable project during the internship, culminating in a group presentation to the respective charity.
