The Role
I really enjoyed the placement in terms of learning about a new part of the bank and more about how the industry works. I have also enjoyed the variety of the role and the team that I have been placed in. In terms of an improvement I would have liked to learn more about the technical elements.
I felt very valued by my colleagues as I was given responsibility for a number of important projects. In addition to the work I was given and the initial projects, I have also been given further work as colleagues have valued the work I have done.
The person I was placed with always gave up his time to explain everything to me no matter how busy he was. He also made sure that I was well integrated within the team and had work to do.
Although there have been times when I have not always had a full days work to do I have mostly had a workload that has been both manageable and cahllengeing. The times when I have not necessarily had enough work have been rare and in these cases it gives me time to research into other areas of the bank.
I was given a lot of responsibility, including important work for my teams half-year event and the production of the weekly and monthly updates. I was also asked to do work for some of the heads of business and the production of a monthly newsletter. With the projects and work I was asked to do I was given full responsibility and accountability for the results.
My degree does not directly link to the finance industry so the internship has helped me to develop skills that my degre does not necessarily provide me with. Beyond my degree, I think this placement has provided me with a lot of transferable skills to be able to better enter the working world.
The Company
The atmoshpere in the office was perhaps the most enjoyable element of the internship and I got along well with the people. Although there was formal dress and the formal client side, between colleagues there were always running jokes and things organised for after work so that we could socialise outside of work.
I felt as though the placement was very well organised and I developed and got to grips with what the team does, I got given more work related to the things I would have picked up and to build my understanding. Throughout different periods of the internship I had different projects and focsses along my normal day-to-day work which had all been planned in advance.
In terms of personal traninig and development I hvae learnt a lot from watching different people and developing my skills by learning how to use different programs and to understand the processes necessary for my job. However, a lot of this was achieved off of my own back rather than directly through specific training.

The graduate scheme is very appealing and is a good start to workinglife so I will take the offer of employment if I am given it. The starting salary, benefits, and traning given on the graduate scheme are all very competitve and Lloyds is a company with a good culture that supports its colleagues.
The Culture
Yes there was a good social scene, with after work events organised often and we all integrated well with each other. Although, I didn't go tomost of them as I had other things to do, there would always be something to look forward to doing if I didn't have anything else on.
I worked in London and it took me an hour commute from my parents house so I didn't have pay rent. Therefore, that significantly cut my costs down. Nevertheless, if I was to have rented - living costs in London are very expensive. Also, buying lunch and going out can be expensive. However, that is understandable as you ae payign a premium in London.
London has a very good night life and has world reknowned venues, therefore, if the night life scene is one of your interests London is the place to be. However, personally I don't have a massive interest in this and prefer spending time doing other things.
