    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I have enjoyed my internship with Lloyds it has really allowed me to see what working in this industry is like. I have met a lot of different people and I feel like I have learnt a lot in how to work as a team in a professional setting. Lloyds were really willing to allow you to shadow a lot of different areas as well to let you get a feel of the whole industry.

    4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I feel like I was really valued by my colleagues and they put a lot of faith in me to do my work. They relied on pieces of work that I was completing, none of the work I was given was trivial or not used in some fashion by others. They were also always available to help me if I needed help in understanding or doing something.

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • My line manager was very helpful, he was always on hand to help me out or give me advice. If I ever felt I had too much on my plate, or if I wanted more to do, he was always happy to oblige. He was also very accomodating in helping me find other areas to shadow, and in making sure I felt very much apart of the team.

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • Some days I was in practically back to back meetings, just enough time inbetween some for some lunch. Most days I had plenty to do, but not quite as back to back as some days. On the rare day there was a little lacking for things to do, but I could always help out others in the team for things they did not have time to do.

    4/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • During my internship I was given a lot of responsiblity, others relied on and used my work on a daily basis. Others started to come to me to find out information they need about the areas I was in charge of. Nothing I ever did during my time here felt trivial, it all had a purpose that needed to be done.

    4/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I was in an area which was close to my degree, but still very different to what I was used to. It give me a deeper appreciation for my area and I got shown how to do all involved and caught up to speed very quickly. It showed me a side to the industry which I had never really consider previously.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • The atmosphere in my office was really nice. Everyone was very relaxed and chilled, they were always very friendly and always up for a laugh. No one takes themselves to seriously and will always try to help you out if you just ask. Everyone is also always up for a chat if you fancy it as well.

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • There are quite a few different interns all in my area and allow for a lot of socialising and plenty of going out and there will never be a dull moment. There is never a loss for things to do as there will always be at least 4 or 5 others who are up for doing something practically every night of the week.

    5/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Cost of food etc is just the same as anywhere really, there are plenty of different supermarkets etc, so you have your pick of places. As for socialising a pint can be a bit pricey in some places, but if you look around you can find places that offer them for a decent price. For reference I was in Edinburgh.

    4/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • Nightlife was good in Edinburgh, plenty of places to go, so never short of choice. I was here during the summer as well when the fringe festival was on, so that just opened up even more choices for places to go and things to do at night. If you say you are bored here then you have no one to blame but yourself.

    4/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • 4/5
