The Role
I have thoroughly enjoyed the work I have been involved in and witnessing the progress of my work by the end of the placement has given me a real sense of achievement.
As I began to build my confidence as the internship progressed, I became more confident in the value I was adding to the project I was completed.
The support I was given was fantastic and allowed me to develop both professionally and personally.
I don't there has ever been a perfect balance but I think that is the exciting part of being able to adapt to changing priorities. Most days were busy.
I had a big role in the project I was set and it involved trying to improve the wider business by making processes more efficient and more accurate.
I have developed my knowledge and skills which can be used in both my degree and any role I take.
The Company
The office atmosphere was very supportive, encouraging but also allowed you to concentrate and work hard. Generally, people are very approachable if you have questions and are happy to help.
The internship was well organised. I live in London and was based in Aberdeen so I had accommodation and travel sorted prior to my move by the Graduate team. The structure of the internship was well balanced, and I had opportunities to go back to the south on a number of occasions to get involved in training and development with the rest of the interns.
It is very apparent that Centrica recognise the importance of training and development as my internship has been packed full of valuable experiences. In my first two weeks of the internship, it was heavily based on training and it allowed me to get familiar with the business and my role before getting stuck in on my project.

Working from home
I have thoroughly enjoyed working in the Health, Safety, Environment and Security department and I plan to apply to the graduate scheme.
The Culture
There were only two interns (including me) based in Aberdeen so I did not have the opportunity to see most of the interns. I took part in a charity challenge where I was placed in a group with other interns which was a good opportunity to meet others.
The accommodation is provided by Centrica. The flat of 7 I stayed in was empty for the first week and two others moved in after that.
I lived in the city centre so there are lots of bars, restaurants, shops and clubs near by.
Yes there were many opportunities to get involved in a range of activities.
