The Role
There was an excellent work-life balance. The work given to me was challenging and reflected the day-to-day operations of my team but there was also a very strong social aspect, with numerous events across the calender.
My colleagues ensured I was given work that added value to the team and to the wider bank, getting me involved in the team in all aspects.
Before I began a new task, the team would run me tbhrough the process and explain how I could complete it. Whenever I had a question, my team would always take time out of their work to focus on my dilemma and would build upon previous guidance.
I was fairly busy overall but there were definitely very quiet moments. However, this is indicative of the wider summer placcements rather than anything my team could control. Naturally, the summer period isn't as busy because people are winding down and taking holidays so they tend to finish any outstanding deals.
I feel like I was given a good amount of responsbility. I was given enough to add pressure to my work and be able to call it mine but not too much that I felt overwhelmed or isolated.
The skills I have learnt like how to write credit papers, EWOBS, statiscal analysis and how to read audited accounts will be very applicable to my degree (Politics and Economics) and my future.
The Company
Brilliant! I was placed in quite a small office (my floor has about 20 people in it at any one time) dedicated to commercial SME and Mid Markets. The whole office was really friendly and I got opportunities to chat and get to know everyone on good terms. There was an inbelievable amount of banter and friendly teasing.
I have no issues with the organisation of the internship which hopfully means it was fine. The general stucture works well but it is very flexbile which I think helps.
I'm part of a scholarship scheme with Lloyds Bank so I'm probably slightly biased, but just in the internship alone, I feel they invest in you completely. The bank and my team were decicated to my development and since Lloyds really drives getting their graduate population from their interns, they are completely focussed on you.

I would definitely work for LLoyds Banking Group. The people who work there are great.
The Culture
Definitely, I was based in Leeds, which is one of the regional hubs, and there were about 30+ people staying together in private student accommodation that Lloyds paid for, so there was something occuring every night.
Siginficantly cheaper than London and cheap enough so that you could go out every weekend and go for drinks and still keep a good amount of your money.
Leeds has a renowned night life and it does live up to the reputation. Even though the place is empty of students, there are still loads of places to go, pleasing a whole variety of tastes
There were plenty of activities with colleagues and with fellow interns
