The Role
I enjoyed my summer internship here in HSBC Leveraged and Acquisition Finance, with both work and afterwork activities with my team
I was been assigned a lot of tasks, like pitch book preparation, comps sheet preparation and financial model building...People always gave you feedbacks on the worked you delivered and how to improve the performances
People here in HSBC Leveraged and Acquisition Finance are very nice, they took time to teach me even they were very busy. Although, as an intern, you made mistakes sometimes, they will guide you to correct them in a kind manner
Very busy...Even in the summer time, some times I have to work till midnight. However, it is normal in any Leveraged and Acquisition Finance team
I participated in many deals including acquisition finance and LBOs and in every deal, I got different exposure to better understand the LBO, acquisition finance and High Yield market
Here, firstly, I think is the team working spirit. I learnt how to support the team members and deliver the work jointly with my colleagues; Secondly, I learnt the analytical and logical thinking in preparing every document; Also, I learnt how to manage pressure and deliver under tight deadlines.
The Company
The general atmosphere in Leveraged and Acquisition Finance is very nice. People are willing to help and explain everything. Also, we have afterwork team building activities like drink and work out.
The work placement is organized with one-week training and nine-week internship. Also, when you join the desk, you have the chance to join the speakers' sessions to know more about the other divisions in the bank.
With the training provided by Fitch learning and on-desk training, I have learnt a lot; Also in Leveraged and Acquisition Finance team, you also have the chance to talk with people on the different desks like syndication, origination, high yield, sponsor team...People do take time to develop you
Sports and Social Club
Subsidised/Company Gym
Company Parties/Events
HSBC is a very friendly bank with the goal to develop juniors, so to further work within the bank will be a great choice
The Culture
The student and colleagues here are very nice, and we share the internship experience and helped each other. Also we became friends after the team events like dragon boat racing
I like on the isle of dogs, very close to my firm, however, quiet, not too many socialing events going on. Also, I lived in an apartment costing £330/week, so it is expensive compared to other areas
In Canary Wharf, the nightlife is nice with a lot of events and drinks going on like concert, afterwork get-togethers...
Yes. In Leveraged and Acquisition Finance team in HSBC, we went to the team summer drinks and also, we went to the gym together. The team spirit and the afterwork life is very good
