The Role
It took a whilke to settle in but by the end I really enjoyed it
I feel that by the time I became up to speed with the work my contributions were greatly valued by the team
I was given guidance and support but I had to seek it. The team was generally patient when I wasn't performing and were there to congratulate me when I provided good work. I received a lot of guidance from one member of the team, which was hugely helpful
At the beginning of the internship I was incredibly busy, with long term as well as daily projects, which was hugely exciting. In my rotation I found myself doing very little quite often
In my rotation I provided a help with a few documents which were then used by the team so I did have responsibility, in the first rotation very rarely was I asked to produce work that they could send to clients. Although having said that, not being qualified I could not speak to clients so they could not really give me more responsibility
Very little as I studied languages and have already finished university
The Company
Once I started to make more of an effort to become part of the team I have been treated amazingly by everyone. Both the teams I worked with were great with me as well as amongst themselves. I could see that they are all capable of working well together as well as spending time sociably outside the office. I believe this is key for a long term carreer.
I think the internship wasn't that well organised. I received a rejection letter a few days after being asked to come for an assessment centre, to then be told it was a mistake. I asked to join a desk and was put in another, which then luckily turned out to be a great desk to work for. Once I joined things were different although I don't think the two week rotation is particularly beneficial and many other people have told me they agree.
I have learnt an incredible amount and that comes down to the team investing in me. I found that Analysts as well as Directors and Managing Directors were incredibly keen to teach me as much as possible.
Subsidised Canteen
I would love to work here
The Culture
I think HR did a pretty poor job of offering social events but I still managed to make a lot of new friends and have a good time. Both teams I worked with were very keen to go for drinks on a friday and we had a team night out half way through which was amazing
London is incredibly expensive
It is very difficult to go out in London without a plan but the times when I got organised I had amazing nights! There is definitely a chance to have an awesome night but you have to be very organised about it!
I went clay pigeon shooting with colleagues which was great fun. I wish there were more opportunities like that
