The Role
This internship gave a great opportunity to enhance the knowledge of different financial elements used by the desk as well as to meet plenty of people willing to share their knowledge with you. So
Different desk members treated me differently but generally the atmosphere was very welcoming.
A bit more participation and willingness to share knowledge would have been much appreciated. But the fact that many people are on holidays right now and others are busy covering for them compensated that.
Generally daily schedule was super busy ranging from tasks give by the desk to participation in trading games
A reasonable degree of autonomy and responsibility was given whilst working on the projects. Though some major decisions has to be agreed with a manager or with other team members.
I believe it was not only a great possibility to enhance technical and understanding of the direct functioning of markets, but also a chance to learn from senior managers how improve presentations skills that will greatly help in university and further in life. The basics of financial maths on the par with advanced research and deep data analysis will be increasingly helpful for writing thesis and final year project in the university. Overall, I believe this internship was a good "school of life" .
The Company
I did not expect everyone on the trading floor to be so nice and helpful and willing to share knowledge. The environment was very challenging and encouraging
The programme was very well structured. Every week we had an overviews of different desks and asset classes that gave a good insight in the business. Regular trading games and stock picks made internship much more challenging but also interesting at the same time as we had an opportunity to learn from peer interns and junior traders. Together with a well-structured working time we had some regular social events where we had an opportunity to network with colleagues and other inters.
The bank is willing to facilitate the professional development by providing various training programmes and workshops which I found particularly interesting.
Financial Bonus
Company Parties/Events
I would be more than happy to receive the offer from the firm because the culture and atmosphere is exactly as the one I have been looking for. I feel welcomed and intellectually stimulated in this bank
The Culture
Our social life was very intense and mainly organised by ourselves as we became friends with nearly entire intern class
It was quite costly to live in the area, although you know that London prices are generally higher than in the rest of the country so you are prepared to pay a bit more
It was great to find a lot of people in bars next to the office after work where you had an opportunity to talk to everyone. Although I enjoyed it very much, I didn't have a very active nightlife in clubs.
We had a lovely social charity event where we were building bikes and socialising. Although, apart from that during the week I was so tired that didn't have a lot energy for exciting activities.
