The Role
Overall I would have to say that I had an extremely positive experience during my internship here at Barclays.
I was made to feel extremely welcome by my team alongside other employees within Barclays compliance. I was invited to a lot of employee events which gave me the fantastic opportunity to meet a lot of different people who I would otherwise not have had the opportunity to meet. I have had a lot of exposure to those in very senior positions and it has helped my experience here to be a positive one.
I was given a lot of support from not only my line manager and my team but I was also provided with a buddy who was on the graduate scheme and a mentor.
Varied and definitely increased towards the end of the internship. At the beginning I was sitting around doing very little but this didnt last too long.
I was given some responsibility and to be honest it was the amount I expected considering I was on the internship programme and only here for 9 weeks.
Helped hugely. I managed to find a topic for my undergrad dissertation and gained extremely useful contacts which will aid me in this.
The Company
Friendly, open and willing to help.
Not very well organised at all, if I am honest one of the worst parts of the internship was the HR aspect of it. They got some of my details wrong and just didnt feel like they were ever on top of things.
A lot of focus is placed on training and I genuinely feel some of it has benefitted me.
Subsidised/Company Gym
Hugely appealing. I really want to come back!
The Culture
Yeah really socialble bunch. This includes colleagues on the placement and those in regular employment.
Really high, but it's expected in London! We were paid well enough to afford it.
Great, Canary Wharf has a huge selection of bars and pubs.
Loads, from social events to sports clubs. Wish I could stay longer to properly get involved in these things!
