The Role
I enjoyed the welcoming environment and the willingness of coworkers to explain their roles and functions within the Bank, I enjoyed my time imensely and found the team work exceptional
I was treated as an equal within my team from the very first day in terms of both social interactions and the work I was expected to complete, I felt very welcome and accepted by my team
I felt that I was given good support by my line manager in terms of my general wellbeing but I feel I would have benefitted significantly from more guidance on specific tasks set
I was given a sufficient amount that ensured I was never bored nor stressed by the workload, although I felt I had the capacity to do more within my day but was limited by the tasks set
Was given a generour amount of authority and responsibility for specific functions within my team, which helped me to feel like a full-time member of the team as oppossed to simply an intern.
I have been able to develop my analytical skills as well as problem solving from the tasks set. I have learned a lot in terms of economic theory within markets and soft skills from this internship and will undoubtedly benefit from this in the future
The Company
The atmosphere of the office was very friendly and welcoming and I found it refreshing that almost everyone within my department was willing to give up their time to explain their roles or help deal with issues I was facing
The internship I found was well run and there were no major issues, excepting minor absences of communication between HR and my line manager. Having completed another internship at another bank, I may suggest that the scheme would benefit from a work-related activity which would allow the interns to work together alongside their desk responsibility, a group project would benefit the overall experience
I feel there was sufficient support in terms of personal training provided by my team and the Bank as a whole, I feel there was little scope for it to be improved due to the short length of the internship

HR have been excellent in keeping the interns imformed of opportunities to carry on working within the Bank, working within the Bank of England in the future is appealing due to the purely positive experience I've had working here
The Culture
Yes, the interns created a whatsapp group to stay in touch and were able to meet for lunch almost every day as well as regularly meet after work, this aided the friendly atmosphere of the bank and I'm glad this was encouraged by HR
There was limited choice in terms of affordable social venues to go to however this is to be expected and was relatively standard for central london locations.
HR provided a very useful lunch and learn session on volunteering opportunities within the Bank, although simply due to the timings it was not possible to get involved
