The Role
I am very happy that I took part in this experience. The internship is very intensive and that means that you learn a lot, work really hard but also have a lot of fun meeting new people (both from the business and fellow interns).
I feel that I was a part of the team very early on. We also have a quickfire mini-rotation in our second week, meaning that we've got quite a network around the floor early on. This can be leveraged in your daily desk work as you know who to come to to ask for help.
My managers have been extremely helpful and insightful. They help out and give advice if you asked for it. Furthermore, there are many people who were involved in the programme in different ways ie interns' activities or through the mentoring/buddy scheme.
The day is packed with desk work, interns' activities and the occasional socials. There is a lot to learn, a lot of people to meet. Given the short amount of time, it's very intensive but that's why no day would be boring.
I was given real work to do right from the beginning. Although due to regulations/compliance, there are a lot of restrictions. But the works that interns get to do are often used by people on the floor which is very rewarding
They train you really well at the firm. This includes a week long training at the beginning of the internship as well as the occasional teach-ins. Interns' activities are also designed for you to learn about sales and trading
The Company
Everyone is really friendly and you could walk up to anyone for a chat, ask for advice or/and just to sit with them to learn about whwat they do. This is highly encouraged.
The programme is really well organised and set up. There are a lot of activities so you're involved in more than just day to day desk work. This includes sales pitches, trading game, market wrap up etc etc

The Culture
London is very very expensive. There are a lot of things to do/see/eat in London but the day is long. Although you'd be free weekends to go exploring london. It's a great city~!
THe office is near to Shoreditch which is packed with great fun/cheap bars/clubs. London itself have a lot to offer so one would never run out of things to do/try. Although London is fairly expensive.
