About You
The insight week was full of enthusiastic and lively speakers, who were greatly interesting and informative. As well as this, there were practical activities such as a tour of the city and a stock picking game, which gave us a proactive way of learning which was highly enjoyable.
Fidelity made me feel very valued and at home during the insight week, through asking me questions and taking an interest in myself. On top of this, the firm made sure the students were in groups so that we got to know each other and make friends to feel comfortable.
At multiple times throughout each day of the week, it was emphasised that we were encouraged to ask questions for any uncertainties we had, either in a group setting or on a one-to-one basis which was offered regularly also.
During the week, I learnt so much about the industry I wish to go into, and the information and skills developed will be valuable for years to come, through university and in the professional world.
The Company
Before arriving at the insight week, we received an in-depth itinerary of the weeks activities, who would be taking each activity, and the duration of each day. This itinerary was followed and made the week seem very well structured and seamless.
Both the talks, and social activities led to a great atmosphere in which everyone was relaxed whist learning a lot and gaining valuable experience in a great professional working environment.
The firm provided a session on CV, skills development and interview technique. This allowed us to take advise for the future, whether at this firm, or elsewhere. This was extremely useful and allowed us to see some of the skills needed in this industry.
The talks given throughout the week were given by employees within the firm, who all have an overview of their day-to-day activities and roles, as well as their journey to their position. There was also emphasised placed on the friendly environment which the firm has.
The insight helped to confirm my chosen path into this industry, through providing information as well as advise on how to develop the skills and attributes necessary for this industry.
Everything Else
Many networking events were provided such as dinner and lunches, where employees from all levels of the firm came to network and answer any questions. There were social events such as drinks which allowed for us as students to socialise and become relaxed.
I would highly recommend this insight week to anyone considering this industry. There was plenty of opportunity to develop your skills as well as learn about the whole industry and individual firm.
