The Role
It was a great experience where I learnt a vast amount of knowledge regarding the industry and how it operates. The people I worked with were very friendly and always willing to help and support me whenever I needed it. The work I completed was interesting, insightful and for the most part enjoyable.
My colleagues gave me a reasonable amount of work and tasks that also held importance. This showed that they had trust in my abilities that I would complete work correctly and to a high standard. As such it made me feel like a valued member of the team who plays an important role in the project.
Contact with my supervisor was at times limited due to the locations of where I was working. Having said this if I required any support or help, they were still more than willing to try and arrange a meeting in person as soon as they possibly can. I also had support from other colleagues who would willingly provide guidance at any point.
My work load did fluctuate throughout the duration of my placement. At times I would have a quite a lot to complete and at other times I may be asking around for more tasks to do. During the working week I would regular find myself moving from place to place to attend meetings and other sites which was in a way a good thing as it helped to break up the type of work that I was doing.
I was given various responsibilities during my time here which required me to stay on top of. This is because a lot of what I was working on had to be sent out weekly for others to see and use. My responsibilities also held a lot of importance as the work that I completed may be needed by someone else to complete their task.
My time here has helped me develop my understanding of the day to day running of this particular industry. As such it gave me a better insight into how what I have learnt at university is applied in the real working environment. But also what I have learnt here will aid me in my understanding of my future studies and any future work by using the skills and experience that I have developed over my time here.
The Company
For the most part the offices general atmosphere was friendly and relaxed. There would usually be people coming in and out, meeting different people and completing various different tasks. There was also a lot of collaboration between people where a lot of discussions over the work would take place. Despite everything going on the background it did not hinder my ability to concentrate on the work that I was completing.
My placement was organised very well with contact between myself and the company being very consistent. There was however some issues to begin with due to incorrect details being passed over to me, but this was resolved in the end and have not had any other problems with the overall set up of my placement.
The company had me go on a 2 day training course that was fully paid for to enable me to have the correct certification to go on site. The company have also spent a lot of time reviewing my progress and are looking at how they can work with me to develop my career in the future.

Company Parties/Events
I am with the company on a scholarship scheme, so as long as I maintain a good academic and working record I should be able to continue on with them after graduating. Having been on a placement with them I am happy and content with the way they operate and would be more than happy to join them in the future.
The Culture
I would occasionally see other placement students to work with them but beyond that not much.
The cost of living was not too bad as I was able to easily commute from my home. Due to the location of where I worked which was outside of London, prices for food etc. was reasonable. Travel costs however did mount up quickly but I was able to claim this back at the end of each month.
N/A
There were opportunities for activities outside of work, but they were not particularly regular and due to the short time that I was here I did not have a chance to go to any.
