The Role
I highly enjoyed the internship. The structured internship programme of events was interesting and has helped further my knowledge of different departments and roles within the company. This also helped integration within the interns, and I am sure these relationships will be valuable for the future. The tours were interesting and were important in creating awareness of the built environment in the City and the City’s culture. The team I was placed were friendly and welcoming, I was given a good workload and responsibility, the team were highly approachable and always willing to help.
I felt highly valued and respected by my team. They treated me like a regular employee of Savills and gave me sufficient responsibility.
Support was always available, colleagues have been more than willing to help. All members of my team have been conscious that I have little background in the specialisation they work in, and have been active in teaching me about different aspects and techniques used. My graduate has been a good point of contact e.g. when needing access to certain websites and content, and helping in how to operate software such as Promap. HR have also been very supportive throughout the internship.
On average I have been busy enough on a daily basis, I constantly have work to do but are also available to leave work at a reasonable time. There have been periods of busier workloads on the run up to deadlines, for these I have been happy to help and stay late in order to get the work done and assist my colleagues on their heavy workloads.
As mentioned previously, I was given good levels of responsibility to complete reports as fully as possible. There has been lots of trust and respect from my colleagues in my ability and quality of work.
I may not have the opportunity to work in such a department again, and it has been a good insight. The understanding I have gained of the department will I’m sure help me in any further studies and the workplace. Understanding the Savills report structure, will help me when writing my own reports. The departmental overviews have provided me with a good base for each department and has helped me to apply real-life scenarios to what I have learnt at university.
The Company
Good atmosphere, this comprised of happy, friendly people who obviously have high levels of job satisfaction. I have enjoyed the atmosphere overall.
Extremely well organised, our timetable has been full of a diverse range of events that have been very interesting and educating. Everything ran smoothly. The process on the run up to arrival was thorough and well organised, instructions were easy to follow and conduct. I would also like to praise the Savills application website system, which was excellent, had easy input methods and a sensible layout, and I encountered no technical defects. This cannot be said for many of the other leading companies that I had applied for, where I was always encountering technical defects, poor layouts and input methods.
Savills have been very good in investing in us during the time of the internship, such as educating us and putting time into setting up and attending events. I have been very impressed.
Sports and Social Club
Good, I have had an enjoyable time during the placement and good insight into the working atmosphere and people at Savills. HR have been communicating to use that a good way of getting onto the Graduate Scheme is through the Summer Scheme.
The Culture
Yes, interns were active in organising lunches and drink after work, everyone has got on well and integrated. It has been interesting to hear about the interns experience within their teams.
Very high, but at least the wage can cover most expenses (not including rent), it just doesn’t leave much left at the end.
Good.
Yes, the rounder match was a good activity that people enjoyed. My team have had numerous drinks post work and have always involved me in these.
