The Role
Greatly enjoyed my year in the role, would happily go back.
Felt incredibly valued and needed.
Guidance not always the clearest with work related issues but support was always provided whenever it was needed.
Good balance of work, sometime too much, however this comes with the nature of the role due to manufacturing factors that are outside anyones control.
I was given as much responsibility as I could personally handle. I would not say i was running the show as to do so requires years of technical knowledge and experience.
Invaluable skills that has greatly enhanced my C.V.
The Company
excellent if you like a technical thinking enviroment.
Well organised and maximised our time within the company.
Lots of training was given to not only enhance my work skills but also my personal developement. 3M had a developement programme constructed for the IP students as well as all the extra training we recieved.
Flexi Time
Subsidised Canteen
Sports and Social Club
National Travel
Company Parties/Events
Staff Sales/Staff Shop
Very good, all those who have an placement with 3M are usually likely to recieve an interview for the grad scheme.
The Culture
There were 11 students including myself in loughborough and there were also other placement students in other sites and there were good links between all of us that led to a very good social scene. The IP students were mixed with the grad scheme students of which there are 40 in the company. Also lots of company events, trips and social sports clubs. A very good social scene.
Night life in loughborough town was pretty poor, but the university union was an excellent night out especially if you get involved in the social clubs and societies of the universtity.
Lots of opportunities to socialise or to partake in things outside of work.
