The Role
I really enjoyed my time with Savills, even more so than when I was here over Easter.
I felt like they thought I was capable of difficult tasks and I was given many responsibilities.
My grad, Phil, was extremely helpful and I always felt like I could approach him with any questions I might have. The whole team were really helpful and took time out of their days to explain things to me personally.
It has varied throughout the weeks. Some days I would have a lot of work to do and get finished by the end of the day. Other days there was less for me to get on with but I was able to do some work on some on-going projects that I had been given previously.
I was given the right amount of responsibility. Enough that I felt I was being genuinely productive and adding to the team but not too much that I felt hugely under pressure.
A huge amount. It is a priceless experience to help me develop all the skills I have learnt over the past year on my course. It is extremely interesting to see the theory I have learnt put into practice.
The Company
It has been slightly difficult to gauge the atmosphere as many people in my team have been on holiday over August. However everyday the atmosphere has been one I would like to work in. Relaxed and very easy to get on with your own work undisturbed but also there is always an opportunity to talk to your team and get any help you might need.
Very well organised. I always enjoy anything that Savills put on for under-graduates as it is so well organised. The departmental talks are always useful and very informative. I particularly enjoyed the tour with Diane Eccles, I found it really interesting and a change from being completely property focused in the week. All of the events that have been organised for us have been very helpful in building relationships with the other interns which I have found really enjoyable.
It is obvious that Savills put a lot of thought into this Summer scheme and I am very grateful. I have felt very invested in through the departmental talks and the networking events. The Fee Earners Lunch shows how all levels of Savills are interested in the next intake of Grads and invest their time in meeting the Interns.
Very appealing. Every time I have been at Savills I have enjoyed every minute and I am always sad when it is over. This suggests to me that I would be very happy working here when I leave university and that I could really add something to the company.
The Culture
Yes, better than any other work experience I have done. I have gotten on really well with all of the other placement students and fully intend to see many of them again.
I didn't find it too expensive. The main places to socialise near work are generally quite reasonable. I am fortunate in that my commute isn't too difficult or expensive.
There are a couple of places near the office that were lots of fun for after work drinks with my team and other interns.
Yes, the rounder's match that was organised for us was really fun and was a great opportunity to get all of the interns together with some grads as well. After this we went on to organise our own social events. I was invited along with my team to after work drinks and it was fun to chat to them outside of a work environment.
