    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I have enjoyed my 10-week internship a lot. It was well organised and I have learnt a lot. Apart from daily job, I have had a chance to see and learn about other departments which gave me the better understanding of a whole organisation and enable me to decide that it is an industry I would like to work in.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • 4/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • My line manager was very busy due to holiday season and many employees were on holidays as well as he had to cover the sick leave of head of the team, but still I have been given full support and guidance. He spent time with me to explain the processes and teach me necessary software and programs.

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • The workflow was very varied. From being very busy and staying overtime, to having temporarily nothing to do. However, it encouraged me to proactively seek for additional jobs in other teams. This helped me to meet more people and have a broader scope of tasks and learn more.

    3/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • My manager initially checked all my works in detail, but seeing that it is done well and mistakes do not occur, he gave me more responsibility. I did a real work for the team, which was very rewarding especially that after talking with other interns in other companies where they said they worked on 'mock scenarios' and their contribution to team work was none.

    4/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I study Business&Management so the Finance and economic background at work helped my to have a better understanding of the processes occuring in business. I have developed the Excel skills, whcih will be very useful for interpreting data while I will be writing my dissertation as well as in the future at work.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • People are very nice and immediately I have felt welcomed. Each team member has spent time with me explaining their role and teaching me new things. We have organized together team lunches and drinks so everyone got on well. The general atmosphere was really nice.

    5/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • It was organized very well. Starting with the Recruitment, which was fast and then we were assisted with onboarding. The internship started with the Induction Event when we had a chance to liesten to Senior Management, learn more about the organization and meet other interns. It was clear during whole time what is expected from us.

    3/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • I am very interested in joining the Group for graduate programme. It is very appealing as it offers 4 rotations, supports gaining the CFA qualifications. After talking with current graduates I am convinced that it is a good organised graduate programme. Additionally it is well paid.

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • Yes. First of all we had an organised accomodation by the employer, so we had a chance to live together and get to know each other well. Secondly, we had a lot of social events organised for us. We supported each other and organized shadowings in our teams.

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Difficult to say. London definitely is not a cheap place, but we very provided the accomodation in a walking distance from works, so the costs of living and transport did not occur. Socialising on the other hand was expensive, with all local bars and restaurants having high prices.

    3/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • 5/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • We were encouraged to take part in Charity Challenge and in group of 10 to raise money for the Company's Charity of the Year. It encouraged us to organise events outside of work. I personally decided to raise money while running 10k which has been a great success.
