The Role
I did enjoy my time in Business Development, however I wish I was given more responsbility and stretch as I wanted to prove myself as I was pursuing a graduate scheme referral.
I feel like I did add value to my team. The central team is very busy so they definitely appreciated my being there to ease some of the workload. This is allowed me to create some toolkits and peices of work that will be used after I leave. It was nice to feel like my colleagues could rely on me when they needed some help.
Over the course of my 10 week placement I spent a grand total of 2 hours face time with my manager. Whilst I appreciate this is still great experience of different managerial styles, I feel like my personal development hasn't progressed as much as I would have liked and I didnt have the opportunity ot connect with my manager. Most of my support came in the form of an assistant manager or my bosses bosses PA.
Whilst I appreciate this is the nature of Business Development. Often my mondays felt like organised drowning and my fridays felt like being in a retirement home.
I think I was given a moderate amount of responsibility. I was involved in sorting out some key risk issues and moulding peices of work that were untouched by the team due to resource and timing issues. However this did feel like patchwork and was poorly strung together.
I think I gained some useful insights into different managerial styles and connecting with colleagues. Unlike some others, I will always talk to my colleagues as if each and every person is an executive level as I did see some "talking down" to people. Time management will be useful for my final year studies. self awarenss will be an ongoing development piece.
The Company
Great banter amongst colleagues unlike the boring risk guys next door!
There was no clear structure except the office that I worked out of. It was very much week to week picking up the scraps and trying to keep me "busy" I feel like my manager wasnt given enough preperation by her boss before my internship started.
They provided me with great networking opportunities and never said no to me shadowing/ looking at other areas in the business. In terms of personal development this was limited as in CB, HR is a naughty word! I think they want to invest in me in the future, but presently I've not seen where these thousands of pounds have gone!

I look forward to working within the organisation, the changes on the cards and their belief in graduate talent is next to none. I feel like this is a great place to begin my career,
The Culture
We made a conscious effort to lunch, go out for drinks and see each other at the weekend.
Average/ verging on expensive
Plenty of clubs, pubs and bars. Great to be here over the summer.
Lloyds never announced social sport/ clubs to get invovled in. This would need to be pursued by the individual
