The Role
I've had a brillitant 10 weeks. I've learned a disproportionately high amount for the time I've spent here, and I've been involved in some really challenging but rewarding tasks.
I felt valued by the rest of the team from day one. I was involved in tasks from the get-go and even members of the wider team made an effort to familiarise themselves with me.
The support network was great. I had a weekly progress meeting with my manager and my colleagues were always on hand to discuss the issues I had.
This varied by the week. Some weeks I was run off my feet but for one or two others I had quite a bit of free time. This mostly depended on travel and the status of the projects I was working on. Although I had free time, other members of the team were willing to delegate tasks during the less busy periods.
I was given full responsibility over almost all of the projects I was leading. I never felt like I needed my hand held, and my manager was quick to recognise this.
I've become technologically literate. I have also developed my project management skills which will no doubt help me when I return to Uni.
The Company
The Oxford office itself had a bit of a subdued atmosphere. It was very quiet and I don't feel this was best for my style of working. However it was really modern, and brilliantly designed. It has cool breakout areas and overall pretty much everything you need in an office - even a free gym. Despite the quiet atmosphere, the Leicester office (which I spent a lot of time in) was vibrant and really exciting.
Both centrally, and by my line manager, the placement was set up brilliantly from the start. There were rarely times that I was unsure of events or instructions, and when there were I was able to simply ask.
As much as can be reasonably expected over 10 weeks. We did presentation training, team-building and tone of voice training, amongst others.

Excellent. The Centrica graduate scheme is renowned as one of the best, and if the last 10 weeks are anything to go by; it will be.
The Culture
Yes. Despite being based in Oxford I still managed to build strong relationships with the other students, and I managed a couple of nights out with them. I also enjoyed spending time with my work colleagues. I played football and had dinner and drinks with colleagues quite a few times.
Oxford is generally an expensive place to live - but the programme's free accommodation really helped me to afford to live in the city. It was relatively expensive to socialise, but as a student city there were plenty of shops, bars and restaurants offering discounts.
The nightlife in Oxford was good, but as expected, it was quieter than normal given the students were away.
Yes - I played football three times a week, and I certainly could've played more had it not been the end of the season.
