The Role
Had a good exposure to a variety of actuarial work. The workplace environment was nice and friendly.
Was able to establish myself fairly quickly during this internship; became the 'go-to' person for many pieces of work for a couple of clients.
My supervisor gave me a lot of advice and insight into working for this firm and working as an actuary in general.
Was able to find work fairly quickly, and had a decent workload for the majority of the internship. Towards the end, my workload was slightly too high.
Had some responsibility for all of the work I did. Was in charge of my internship project, where I probably held the most responsibility.
Was a really good experience in terms of developing softer skills required to work in a office. Was also able to develop a good technical understanding of actuarial work during my time here.
The Company
Usually very open and friendly, people would chat and talk freely. There are also places to go for those who wish to concentrate in silence for an hour.
Was well organised. My colleagues were very willing to give out work and I was able to get into it immediately. The training schedule could use some work.
All my colleagues who gave me work would use their time to sit down and explain everything to me, and everyone is very happy to answer any questions, even general questions unrelated to the work I had.
Company Parties/Events
A grad scheme offer could be in place if the firm is satisfied with my performance over the internship. There were a few assessment pieces that I had complete over the internship on which the offer possibility is based upon.
The Culture
Everyone is friendly, the interns mixed quite well with other colleagues. Many social events were organised during the internship.
Relatively expensive for a student, but normal considering it is central London
A huge variety
Many opportunities were offered
