The Role
The placement was thoroughly enjoyable, the team were all very approachable and would answer all of my queries even when under pressure to meet deadlines. There was a real collegiate feel to the office.
I was given feedback on everything I did and this was always constructive. As such, I really felt as though my contribution was valued.
The trainee "buddy" I was assigned was always on hand to explain client matters I didn't understand and give advice. My supervisor was also very helpful and between them they set me a list of tasks and objectives to be completed during the week which was really helpful.
The team was really busy during the time I was there so I had plenty to do.
Most of the things I did had to be checked by a solicitor but some only required minor amendments before being sent to clients. I was asked to draft an MG01 to register a charge at Companies House which is quite a high level of responsibility given that if there are any inaccuracies the charge will bounce and be invalid.
I feel I was afforded an excellent insight into life working as a commercial solicitor and improved my time management and research skills.
