The Role
The people were nice and the work was in places very interesting. Scheme was not the most thought through and organised I've been on, but overall I would do it again and enjoyed myself.
People were approachable, but not everyone was particularly welcoming and in the most part we were ignored by the more senior people, although truth be told they were quite busy in my department.
If I needed aid they were available.
I had a constant supply of work which was varied and enjoyable.
Simple research tasks- no client contact or responsibility.
I learnt a lot about certain areas of law which will be transferable as I progress.
The Company
People tended to get on and were in general very welcoming which was nice
Bits of it were well organised but it would have been useful to have email and such as there was no real chance for the vac scheme students to speak to each other outside of the sessions. This wasn't great as it meant we didn't really bond or feel comfortable around each other until after the mid week social, and by then the scheme was essentially over. It wasn't as thorough or thought through as other placements I've been on, however it did the job.
Only had a few workshops which were for the purposes of assessment.
Company Parties/Events
About a third of vacation schemers are interviewed and then rumour has it half of those usually obtain the training contract.
The Culture
When we had finally had the opportunity to chat and get to know each other it was really good. It just took some time. We did have a really fun social evening though.
The firm funded evenings so it was cheap- only cost was commuting.
Good social with the capacity to go elsewere if felt like it afterwards.
No. Just the social evening.
