The Role
I really enjoyed my internship - the work was varied and challenging enough without being beyond my capabilities, and the people were welcoming.
My team was spread between offices which made it slightly difficult to build good relationships; however the team in my office were friendly and fun to work with. They trusted me with tasks but also were approachable enough that I could ask those 'stupid' questions. I recieved feedback from many colleagues, including those very much senior to me, which made me feel like a valued member of the wider Lloyds community.
My actual manager had very little to do with me, instead delegating me to one of her team members to look after. However the team member I was assigned to was a great manager, and really supported me to make sure I got what I wanted out of the internship, as well as supporting my personal development.
As with most jobs (I assume) there was days when my diary was full and I was rushed off my feet. I worked a few late nights and even one weekend. But there were also days where I had nothing that needed doing and my diary was empty.
I had more responsibility that I expected; I led stakeholder meetings, produced plans and presentations and researched and presented idea to managers.
I was heavily involved in the planning of my team's activites, which will defintely help me when I'm planning my time at univerisity. I also improved my presentation and communication skills, as well as my visual presentation production skills.
The Company
My team were a relatively quiet, hard working team, but by the end of my internship we had built up a good rapport and the atmosphere improved. Also, other members of staff in my office were chatty.
I think there was a nice variety of intern tasks set to us, which were in addition to our day-to-day work. There were also a number of intern-specific meetings set up by graduates and the team in charge of the internships which were really useful. Howveer I felt my manager could have benefitted from additonal training as to what to expect from an intern.
I was given opportunities to develop my skills, for example leading meetings with stakeholders and attending risk assessments.

Very appealing - I am awaiting to hear the final outcome of my graduate scheme application but, if it is accepted, I am confident I will accept the offer.
The Culture
Between the fellow placement students there was a great atmosphere - there were almost weekly nights out, and additonal meals/drinks/pub quiz nights/go karting orgnaised by ourselves. Between colleagues, aside from the meal organised for my leaving do, there wasnn't a great deal going on.
Relatively cheap - I was based in Leeds so it was as cheap as you make it. If you wanted a big night out, club entry could be as much as £10, but there are also plenty of cheaper/free bars and clubs
Great and varied - defintely something for everyone! The only downside was the fact that, as my internship was in summer, most of the student nights had closed for the summer, however there were plenty of locals nights to choose from.
Not a vast majority related to the company - there was a company gym and that was about it. With the other interns, however, there was loads - over the period of the internship there was Leeds Festival and Secret Garden Party festivals which were great.
