The Role
The work experience was enjoyable, I got to learn a fair amount about tax and my team were extremely friendly and helpful. However, I spent a lot of time doing nothing as tax is fairly complicated and as an intern I am limited to what I can do.
They gave me work where possible and were all thankful when I had completed it.
I was given a buddy who helped me with any issues I had, as well as given basic training when I started.
Not very. 1-3 hours work a day on most days. Some days I would do nothing and some days I would be busy all day.
I was given a fair amount of responsibility, I was given the chance to draft emails, as well as ring clients.
My degree isn't relevant to tax, so not much. The skills developed and the name on my CV will definitely help me in the future.
The Company
Very friendly and sociable. Lots of fun activities and meals/nights out.
It was poorly organised as a whole. We were given work when it was available and not put onto any projects that would have given us a steady stream of work.
Not at all.
I felt my department had a very poor structure regarding a job offer at the end. I had good feedback, showing I was capable of the job and worked well in a team, yet was not offered a job due to not performing great on a few questions in the final interview. It almost seems as if the 6 weeks experience is essentially irrelevant to your final offer, which seems a pretty inefficient method of employing people.
The Culture
Social events were organised for interns, however only for the first 3 weeks.
Quite expensive as it's London.
Good.
Activities as in socially, yes. Not as in sports etc.
