The Role
The work was very enjoyable. Each week there is a new schedule for the work required for each day within the week ahead. Each week is different and the work submitted is unique depending on the requirements for each client.
I was treated the same as a permanent member of staff and was given just as much responsibility. Each member of my team was very kind and treated me as a valued member of the team, everyone was very willing to help with any queries that I had.
Monthly meeting for the team were arranged to see where everyone was at with the studies they were working on and if extra time was required for them. As well as having one-to-one meeting every few months. It was helpful to hear feedback so that I knew what areas to improve on in the following months.
A schedule is set at the beginning of the week with the tasks that need to be completed by the end of the week. Some weeks I was able to get the tasks done before the week finished so I was able to ask others in the team if they needed any assistance with their workload. This varied from week to week but generally I was able to complete the work before the week finished.
I was given as much responsibility as others within the team. I was able to program my own studies and see them through until the next stage in the process.
I feel more confident planning my own time to be as productive as I can be. This will be one skill I will take into my future studies when assignments may overlap, I will be able to prioritize my time more efficiently and effectively.
The Company
The atmosphere around the office was generally very relaxed and calm. There were some days where there were stressful deadlines but generally it was quite relaxed, as long as the scheduled tasks were completed in a timely manner.
The placement was well structured with adequate time for training. Throughout the year I was given more and more responsibility once I had a little experience with the various tasks required for a study.
I was able to take the full training a permanent member of staff would take at the start of my placement. Also throughout the year there were extra modules assigned called SOP's which allowed me to find out more about the standards and practices throughout the entire company and not just my team.

Working from home
There are many ways to progress within the company, not just in my team but other departments as well.
The Culture
There were a few team arranged activities throughout the year. There were a couple of members of the team who went to a weekly pub quiz and also monthly social nights.
I referred to live further out of the city center and commute a little further which for me is a preferred lifestyle. I preferred living somewhere that I was comfortable being and feeling more at home so for me paying a little extra for rent was okay. There is a great social atmosphere in Leeds with many great places to eat and socialize.
I lived near to the Otley Road which is renowned for the 'Otley Run' which people wear fancy dress and go from Headingley into the city going from pub to pub. There were quite a few bars and clubs nearby and plenty of restaurants for quieter nights.
There weren't many out of work activities arranged but some weeks a few of us would go to a pub quiz. Also there were a couple of lunches arranged for the team.
