The Role
Thoroughly enjoyed it, got the chance to see and speak to many new people in different departments of the Bank, both inside and outside of work. The work provided a challenge yet it was enjoyable working through any issues.
With the teams I was working in, I was welcomed with open arms and treated like a real member of the team as soon as I arrived. The intake of interns were also very friendly, fun and I enjoyed many socials with them.
My line manager set up weekly meetings so we could keep each other posted on progress and how we felt the internship was going. This was incredibly helpful as I felt I could learn how I could improve and what was going well from week to week.
Members of the teams I was involved in would come to me for help with problems they were having with things they felt I could help them with, I was also learning about new systems and had objectives I could work towards on top of this.
I had my own things to be working on, yet also small projects which colleagues had asked me to help them with, some of which would be shown bankwide. I was given a suitable amount for the length of the process.
The Bank has given me many valuable skills that will be transferable across my work in later life and in university. It is a real world experience that can be talked about and will help me in searching for jobs.
The Company
Very pleasant. My colleagues all had a good, open relationship with each other and food was often brought in to share amongst the team. Any problems a member had, they knew who to go to for an answer and they were always willing to help.
Very well, found out the dates of the internship when offered the placement, which was a little late. However, once there it was well set up within the teams I was working with to play to my strengths.
Various seminars and "lunch and learn" seminars were put on during the day which you could choose to go to, which ranged from topics about the Bank to intern specific events about the trend in career movements for the younger generations.

Very good, if the placement goes well interns are usually asked to return to the Bank the year after for the next year's internship or various other programs they host, even in different departments of the Bank.
The Culture
The other interns were all very sociable and often we would go out for drinks after work and even on weekends sometimes. We would meet up at lunchtimes as well and we had a group chat so we could stay in touch.
Very expensive, as the Bank is in the centre of London it is always going to be expensive. Travel, accommodation, eating, drinking are all more expensive in London.
Couldn't say, did not go to any nightclubs due to the cost.
Yes, there were many sports teams to get involved with in each department and days for families/friends outside of the Bank.
