About You
A fantastic scheme with a great mix of experience in the office, presentations, networking and social events. A must-do for anybody interested in a career in corporate law.
Linklaters was a welcoming firm that made every effort for applicants to feel valued. We had regular contact with principals and trainee buddies, who provided daily contact and a valuable source of information.
Plenty of guidance was given at all stages during the process from pre-vacation scheme information to advice for training contract interviews and how to perform to our best ability whilst at the firm. Graduate Recruitment were fantastic in answering any queries along the way.
In particular, the Linklaters vacation scheme requires students to undertake a written project. This encouraged us to tackle an unfamiliar problem, and perfect how we communicate with others.
The Company
The vacation scheme was structured very well, with a clear timetable of our work and social events. Each day included time in our departments alongside communal sessions or social activities.
A refreshingly welcoming firm, who made each applicant feel valued and appreciated. Not only were fee-earners eager to see vacation scheme students get involved, but the cohort also got along especially well.
A great mixture of IT training, individual support from fee-earners and the opportunity to undertake professional skills experience sessions such as a mock mediation exercise and a client pitch.
The two-seat structure allowed me to see contrasting departments within the firm, see a range of transactional and contentious work and consider which suited me best.
The daily contact within our departments and the opportunity to meet London and Global Partners re-enforced the culture, ambition and opportunities at the firm.
A three-week opportunity to see the internal lifestyle in a corporate law firm. Each day was essential in helping me to decide on my future career path.
Everything Else
We were paid a fair rate for our time during the vacation scheme.
We had plenty of contact with employees at Linklaters including: our time in two departments, breakfast meetings, an international conference call and dinner with Partners.
Great. These included climbing the O2, a Thames speedboating experience and practice dinner. A great way to make friends on the vacation scheme and speak to trainees.
Yes. As a vacation scheme student we had access to the gym and sports teams, many fee-earners were involved in pro-bono legal activities.
Yes! A fantastic, immersive experience and the only way to really see the culture and working environment of a corporate law firm of Linklaters's scale.
