About You
My role at Deloitte was very enjoyable. The people I worked with helped joining the team very easy and everyone I met was welcoming.
I was given work that was of actual value to the team - the kind of work which people in their first year with the firm would complete.
The prerequisite training was very thorough, in terms of introducing us to what we would be doing and how to use software. During the placement, I was given the space to ask questions and observe other people if I was unsure.
I'm a lot more motivated to work in my final year of university now that I have experienced the working world, and has given me a good ethos to follow for when I start working after university.
The Company
The insight was extremely well structured, with an informal point of contact as well as a formal point of contact. Also, there was very structured training at the beginning and a debrief at the end of my time there. I could not fault it.
The atmosphere was very motivating to work in. Many members of staff would put in great effort to get a job done, which motivated me to perform well too.
i was given group training on how to use the software for half a day, followed by half a day of small group training focusing on the role. It was very thorough in my opinion.
I worked with two clients during my time. One client was very representative of a normal audit and so gave me great insight into what the full time role would consist of. However, the other client I worked with was apparently very unrepresentative, and so I struggled to gain much information as to what the role would consist of from this client. However, any exposure is good exposure, so working with both clients was helpful - at least to some extent.
The insight helped understand the company culture as it showed a clear "work hard, play hard" attitude, which I liked a lot.
The whole experience exceeded any expectation I had, so it definitely has swayed my thoughts as to a future career.
Everything Else
I was paid well and reimbursed travel expenses.
Yes. I worked with two separate teams in the short time I was there.
The networking and social event opportunities were great. People were very social and were always up for going for a drink/meal after work.
Not particularly as I was only there for a short amount of time, however I am aware that lots of activities do go on. These just weren't advertised so much to us.
Absolutely. My short time at the firm has been just as valuable than my entire degree.
