The Role
A fantastic learning experience. I have utilised this opportunity to meet many teams and learn how their day-to-day activities, projects etc. are aligned with the overall goals of the organisation.
All of my team mates were very helpful and enabled me to come up to speed very quickly and due to this I could make some real contribution to the team and project in terms of real deliverables.
My manager and my team mates did not just help me with the work within the team but also supported me to participate in various events and meet other teams (including approaching the heads of different departments) that were aligned with my interest areas.
My assigned objectives and meetings with employees from other teams and departments kept me busy for most of the time.
I used the first few weeks in the beginning to up-skill myself and understand the processes and team's working style. Post which, I was working like other team members with real deliverables and deadlines to meet. Also, my manager gave me an opportunity to come up with an approach/strategy to test an area of work that was targeted for the decision makers within the department.
The role of a technology intern in the bank was in perfect alignment with my University course i.e. Software Engineering for financial services and I'm positive that I'll be able to make good use of the sills acquired during my time.
