The Role
Within my team, I was given enough responsibility such that when I performed and successfully completed a task I was valued by my colleagues. During my internship, I was performing the role of a junior manager who just left the team as I joined so consequently I was seen as an important team member
The management were very keen to take any question, and placed a large emphasis on development. The team I worked in was very approachable, subsequently all members of the team were happy to provide the relevant guidance and support required.
This varied on a day to day basis. There will be days when you are extremely busy whilst there are also days where you have finished tasks and waiting for the next one. However there was plenty of learning resources to keep me busy on the HR portal. My regular hours were usually 9-6
As I mentioned previously I was covering the responsibilities of a junior manager which just left the team, so there was a lot of responsibility on completing tasks. At the end of my placement, when a new manager was hired, I spent time training and guiding the new employee with the relevant systems the team has in place and the ongoing tasks I would be handing over
The training on Risk as a function will be used throughout my career, and help provide a solid foundation. I also had the opportunity to develop my presentation and communication skills which will be valuable as I begin working. My role was not that technical, so the skills I picked up during the internship would not be transferable to my degree
The Company
Very friendly and the whole team were very approachable. Less corporate than I expected Friday football sessions and team drinks , provided a good opportunity to bond with the team Results based business, so there are no problems as long as you get the work done
