The Role
The experience at Linklaters was amazing. I gained valuable insight into how one of the biggest law firm in the world runs. I got good quality, important work. I also learned a lot during this internship. Overall, I loved my time here.
The people working at Linklaters are very, very friendly. They make you feel at home from the very first day. There is a trainee and a principal assigned to an intern to guide him/her from the very first day, and they take every effort to make your experience memorable here. The other people, ranging from other interns to senior partners, are all very friendly and their door is always open for an intern.
My supervisors, especially the principals I had over the two different seats, were especially helpful. They included me in their calls with different offices or clients, they gave me good quality work and also introduced me to complex, technical details in a manner that I could grasp very easily. The Human Resources team were also very good and organized a lot of social events for us in which we bonded with colleagues, and also
The first few days in the first week of my internship were a bit slow as I was coming to grips with the technical details. But after that I got quite busy with work. In my second seat in Banking, I have had a lot of work and been kept busy constantly, which is a very good thing for an intern.
I was given good, trainee level work. I did some very important work like Due Diligence and reviewing contracts for specific clauses, making indexes of transaction bibles etc. I also attended calls and took notes.
I learned a lot from this internship. I have a much deeper knowledge of financial law now than I had four weeks ago, which would not only help me in my degree studies but also in my career in law.
The Company
The atmosphere in both the groups was vibrant. People always had time to chat to me about a lot of things, and bonding over the drinks trolley on a Friday evening was huge fun.
The internship time table was incredibly well planned, with the right mix of work and social events.
I think Linklaters invests a lot in training its interns and vacation scheme students. We were given all sorts of support and training in the office, there was group bonding sessions at the best places and we were put up in superb apartments. All in all, they take care to invest appropriately in an intern so that he/she can become a successful trainee.

Well, I couldn't click on ten stars here because it says 'Got a Job With Them', which I still haven't but will hopefully do. I have my training contract interview with Linklaters coming up very soon and I hope I get a job with them, because Linklaters seems like the place any ambitious law graduate would want to start and spend one's career in.
The Culture
The social scene was very good. A lot of good social events were organised by the firm where we bonded with fellow interns, including the British vacation scheme students who joined us a week later after we started. I made a lot of new friends here.
London is a bit of an expensive city. But Linklaters took care of everything and put us up in superb apartments. They also gave us good stipends, enough for one to socialize, enjoy the city and live comfortably,
Happening nightlife places like Shoreditch were not very far from the area, and I went out with my friends a few times to see and enjoy the London nightlife, which, I have to admit, is quite awesome.
We did get involved in quite a few events outside of work. We went to Hackney and helped park authorities in maintenance of their neighbourhood park as part of a Community Investment Day. We went to Regent's Park and played Softball. We went on group dinners and were taken on a trip of the London Eye and the famous Duck Tour.
