The Role
I wasn't placed in a team I was expecting to be placed in. I had expected a much more financial risk orientated team but instead was but into technology risk which required a lot of technology knowledge which I did not have.
The team was very friendly and helped me when needed. However, as they were very busy I was often left alone.
Plenty of support from my line manager. They gave me a lot of stuff to do including individual projects as well as shadowing days.
It varied a lot. When I had all my project deadlines coming up I was very busy and had to stay late a couple of times. Once I had finished these I had little to do and spent the day flicking through papers.
A fair amount. Nothing that was critical but work that needed to be done on time otherwise itwould hold up a manager meeting a deadline etc.
As I was put in a technology based division it had no relation to my degree or anything that I want to do in the future, so I gained very little.
The Company
Very friendly when everyone speaks and there was some great bantor. However, when we were working there was little.
My manger and mentor were excellent at giving me work. As for HR - they didnt tell me my location until 3 weeks before; the induction week we had could've lasted a day but there was a lot of pointless activities and the end of intern event was poor and a waste of time.
They set many targets for personal development. However, there was little investment into training.
Flexi Time
Subsidised Canteen
Subsidised/Company Gym
National Travel
Pretty poor as the business is on the edge of collapse.
The Culture
Plenty of drink events and banter.
As a city it was fairly cheap but due to the sheer volume of events it became costly.
Carnage
Not a lot, although there were some clubs, they werent promoted to us
