The Role
I thoroughly enjoyed my internship with RBS and would highly recommend the internship scheme.
From the outset, I immediately felt valued by my colleagues. I was included in the variety of events set up by the team and was asked on my opinion (which was took onboard) on a variety of occasions.
From the perspective of an individual new to the corporate environment, I was ensure what to expect and the general culture around the office. The management provided me guidance and support throughout the internship experience to help me develop as an individual. The Early Careers team also ran a number of presentation throughout the internship - which were highly beneficial.
Understandably at the start of my placement the amount of work coming my way was minimal, it was more focussed around learning the requirements for the team. However as the internship progressed my workload increased significantly. Essentially in summary there were days which were busy and some which were quite.
Again at the start of the placement, the amount of responsibility given to me was minimal. However towards the end of my placement the amount of responsibility given increased significantly. Some of the task I was given, I felt were a real importance to the team.
My role, within the role did not entirely be applicable to my degree. Although I believe my soft skills increased significantly with RBS. I have learnt life lessons which will undoubtedly benefit in the future.
The Company
The atmosphere in the office was one which I felt I fit in with well. All the colleagues throughout the office were friendly, approachable and less corporate than I initially expected.
The work placement was adequately organised.
I believe the firm has invested a great deal of time focussed around learning. There are various platforms for interns to learn throughout the internship experience.
There are a great deal of opportunities.
The Culture
Yes
I was based in London so the cost of living is generally high. The socialising aspect was brillant!
Great!
