The Role
I feel I have been put in a wrong role that I did not ask for or wanted, and that resulted in me not enjoying the internship as much even though it had a lot of positive sides to it. There were some days that were really rewarding but in general I did not enjoy it.
I felt very valued by my colleagues, they were all very appreciative and helpful. I was given a lot of independence to work on the project I was given and encouraged to take a pro active approach. Everyone was always prepared to give me feedback, especially when I did something well.
My supervisor was very helpful and has given me constant support, through one to one meetings as well as being very approachable. If he wasn't around, the rest of the team was always there to give me a hand. I felt that if I needed help or support, I could ask for it.
I always had something to do, but some days were slower than others. You can always ask for more work if you find yourself bored, so I think it offers a good balance.
I was given quite a lot of responsibility and the projects I was working on weren't something invented for me to have work, they were things that needed to get done. I was also given a lot of independence. All in all I felt valued and like a member of the team.
Again, because I was put in a role that does not interest me that much or has a connection with my studies I have not developed my skills that much. By taking on extra projects I got closer to the field that I'm studying, and I do feel that this internship helped me develop some skills that are outside of what I do at university
The Company
The atmosphere in the office was very relaxed and friendly, but almost boring at times.
Everything from the organisation side of things was good, I just feel that it could have been better in terms of much of a notice we get and communication with the managers.
We received excel training as well as a general introduction to banking which was very good and interesting.
I really liked the company and would enjoy working for it in a different role
The Culture
There was a sense of community and you definitely meet a lot of people.
I lived in London, so it was quite expensive
The nightlife was great as it's a big city with many things to do and places to visit.
There was an organised charity challenge
