    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • Overall, the internship was a fantastic experience. I learnt a lot in my 10 weeks here. Before joining, my idea of the banking industry was completely different from what it is today. The best part about the internship was the fact that your ideas are taken seriously. You are completely involved in the project and you get a proper taste of the department and the work it does.

    5/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • As mentioned before, my colleagues made me feel part of the team. Help was offered wherever i needed it, sometimes without even having to ask. Ideas here are taken seriously.

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • During the 10 weeks, my manager was always there to help with work. I could report to her at any time. There were several days during which team members, including managers are often travelling to and from your placement location and also working from home. However, they are always approachable through their phone or the office communicator.

    4/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • The first 10 days or so was a slow start and the work truly picked up around the end of my second week. The first few days were just for me to catch up with the project and to understand where it is currently and where it is going. However, there were times in the rest of my placement where i had overlapping events on my diary throughout the day and you truly get involved in the work.

    4/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was given more responsibility than i had expected before i joined. There were times where i was involved in deciding future plans for the project i was working on.

    5/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • This internship gave me practical experience which i would not have been able to have (to such an extent) in university. I have improved drastically on my presentation skills.
