    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • During the placement of my internship, I was given the real responsibility of the business. I was well mentored by my manger. I was quickly integrated into my team. Meanwhile, I get a wide exposure of different field of company business. I feel that my work and contribution to the team was well valued and recognized. It is a strong encouragement to someone just join the placement.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I feel that my work and contribution was well valued by my team. They post thank notes to recognize my contribution. I had weekly regular meetings with my line manger to get feedback in terms of what I did well and areas for improvement. At the end of the internship, I received feedback from various members of the team to help me develop further in my future career.

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • I feel that my work and contribution was well valued by my team. They post thank notes to recognize my contribution.   • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • During the internship, I have to complete the Corporate Social Responsibility Fundraising project and Intern Division Specific project report and presentation. At the same time, I have to deliver work within my business team on a day to day basis. I feel that my whole 10 weeks of internship is well arranged with lots of things to do. I never feel a second that I had nothing to do. It was a productive placement experience for me.

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was given the real responsibility of the team. Those tasks that I did was used to be done my some IC3 level staff. I feel that I was fully integrated into my business team. They did not treat me like an intern. The whole team treat me seriously and communicate with me in a professional manner, which I appreciate it very much. To be honest, I did not expect the internship to be that productive before I joined the company.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • From day to day work on the business tasks in my team, I get to train my Excel technical skills. I was given the opportunity to work on various datasets. Now, i have better technical skills. Meanwhile, I have learnt to communicate with colleagues in a more professional manner. I was also given guidance in terms of career development and get to know more about finance industry as a whole, which helps a lot for my future career.

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • The general atmosphere in my office is very friendly and harmonious. So far I did not observe strong politics within my office. I feel that the whole team work together in a very friendly manner and try to help each other and get work done in a more efficient manner. I really appreciate the kind of clear communication and instruction given by my manger during my placement. I was well guided by various members of the team.

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • The overall work placement was well organized. I was given clear instruction as in what to do. Meanwhile, when i was working on multiple tasks, i was clearly instructed as which task was in a more prrority position. The early career team gave clear timetable and deadline instructions as in when to submit what deliverables to where. I feel well guided over the whole placement of internship.

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • I feel that the company has put in a effort to give me the relevant support and guidance for training. For example, during the induction week. I and the rest of interns were given the Excel technical training at the Fiches training centre. I feel that my technical skills were improved. At the meanwhile, the company arranged budget for us interns to travel between different locations, Edinburgh and London for various company events.

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • Within such a big and well established organization, i was well exposed to various divisions and different parts of the business. I realize that my skills could be well applied to different divisions. Also, the company encourage internal mobility, which people have the choice to move around different parts of the team to learn and grow,
