The Role
The work was extremely challenging and the people were extremely friendly. I think at first I was a bit nervous at times because some of the tasks I was involved with were quite different than what I had previously experienced, but the friendly work environment greatly improved my confidence.
Both the departments I worked with were extremely friendly, and had open-door policies, as a result of which I became very comfortable working here in a very short period of time.
I was assigned to a principal (a supervisor) and had a trainee buddy. These two points of contact in the organisation really helped me find my feet in the first few days.
I was quite busy with work from my principal on most days. In the event that I wasn't busy, I was kept busy by a case study assignment that the internship programme required us to complete.
Initially I was given smaller and more clerical tasks, but once my principal saw that I could be trusted with those small tasks, I was given more responsibilty.
I learnt a great deal about working in an organisation, interacting with peers and superiors and about commercial thinking and writing- all of these are great skills to have if you want to be a commercial solicitor!
The Company
Both the departments I worked in were extremely friendly! We had plenty of social events organised for us to help us socialise with people from other departments as well!
Linklaters as a firm is incredibly organised! They have a service desk to help with printing and proof reading, and a fantastic IT portal to help with legal research and drafting.
My principals always stopped to answer any questions or queries that I had, and always made sure they gave me a background to the work I was doing for them.
Subsidised Canteen
Company Parties/Events

The Culture
There were plenty of social events organised to help us socialise with the other students at the internship. We almost always cought up after work as well!
London is expensive!
