    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I really enjoyed the internship. I was given lots of opportunities to learn about different areas and given increasingly more responsibility as the weeks went on, so had a really good chance to learn about the business and the industry.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • My line manager and team were very supportive and made me feel like a valued colleague. They were very facilitating in providing me contacts in different teams as well as always being willing to give me more work when I asked for it.

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • My line manager was always willing to discuss issues with me and give up her time to talk to me. This was helped by the fact she sat just opposite me so I was always able to ask her help on quick queries. She and the team also made sure I had opportunities to learn about different things I was interested in.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • It was mixed from day to day. Some days I was very busy and had lots on my plate, whereas other days I was less busy and occasionally had periods where I had nothing to do. This is partly due to the area I worked in but also just due to the nature of being an intern and there being a limit on what you can be given. However I always felt able to ask my manager and team for more work when I had spare capacity and they were good at finding me things I could do.

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • Initially I was given a few projects to work on by myself but were not too crucial, which is to be expected due to having minimal experience and knowledge. However as the weeks went on I was given more responsibility and was taking the lead on a few different areas of work, and my manager felt more confident in allowing me to be in charge of more important work.

    4/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • Skills such as team work and communication I feel are very important and will be beneficial in my studies but also throughout life. I also think generally developing a good work ethic is very beneficial.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Very positive, good team atmosphere.

    4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • Mainly up to the line managers in terms of day to day work, but the induction was well organised and there was a series of learning events put on by the intern team.

    4/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • Learning opportunities provided and line manager was committed to providing me with opportunities to learn about different areas.

    4/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • 4/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • Haven't received notice on whether I have received a place or not yet, but am hopeful of being given a place on the grad scheme and working with the business.
