The Role
I liked the people I worked with and the benefits I had from having money from a full time position. In terms of the role itself I did not enjoy it, it was far too limited. Not ideal for a student who is here to learn.
I got on with my colleagues and will even stay in contact with a couple of them. But in terms of work, I didnt feel valued because I wasnt given the opportunity to give anything to the team, I didnt feel productive.
They provide a couple days training and people did help me when I needed help. However I was told I would do a lot of things that I didnt; there is no set structure for a placement student as there is at other companies so I didnt feel like I was treated as someone here to learn, just another body to do whatever they needed me to.
Some of my placement I was extremely busy, for the most I wasnt. there was pressure to be busy but the tasks set were sometimes unachievable as the candidates needed just werent available. a lot of the work was monotomous.
I wasnt really asked to do anything with any responsibility. there wasnt the opportunity for anyone in the team to take on responsibility as such.
i havent learnt anything of particular use. i have learnt how to use software that i probably wont use again, and er i can write CVs a little better, but nothing significant if anything at all.
The Company
no one on my team really likes the role that much. staff turnover is high. and those that are still here dont want to be.
there was no plan for me. i was just a person who they knew couldnt leave if i didnt like it, so it prevented staff turnover looking worse. not organised in any way.
barely nothing. a couple of training days and that was it.
Financial Bonus
not a chance i would return. i was offered a lot that i never got or didnt get to do. i can jazz up what i did for the year, on my cv, but in reality if it wasnt for the money this would have been such a waste of time.
The Culture
met a couple of students on a training day. thats it. no platform to meet up with students or contact them. just treated like a normal member of staff.
i stayed living at home and worked in a quite nice area. it was averagely priced.
little on offer
offered some incentives which we had to have outside work hours but when achieved them we didnt get what had actually been offered.
