    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • It was fantastic. Easily exceeded my expectations and I had the opportunity to not only own pieces of work but also undertake client meetings, visit multiple divisions and interact with people of immense character depth and experience.

    5/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • My colleagues honestly treated my as if I was a regular full-time employee. At no point in time did I feel that my work was simply given to me to pass time. Every presentation, pitch book or excel analysis I carried out contributed to a real work-stream. It was fascinating to learn so much and do so much in such a short amount of time.

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • My line-managers had different approaches towards work and while initially it was difficult to identify their style of organisation, it provided me with a great chance to develop my adaptability skills and tailor separate tasks to my managers style of delivery. They were supportive and friendly and on a weekly basis were more than happy to discuss my future aspirations over a nice cup of coffee.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • There was a good balance of work-life hours and while on a regular basis I always had work to do and build upon, it primarily depends on your attitude and your desire to obtain new pieces of work. I owned 3 work-streams during my intern-ship and an opportunity to present and build upon feedback offered by my colleagues. I was also given the chances to offer support to different divisions due to my excel skills previously developed.

    4/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I owned 3 work-streams, got to undertake and chair client conference calls and even fill in for senior managers during new supplier meetings. It was an experience that I couldn't believe possible for an intern.

    5/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • As a propositions intern I learned to build pitch books for clients, carry out excel analysis and report writing, do market scans and interact with vendors and create and shape products. The versatility of the team provided me with a great chance to gel with different divisions

  • It was well structured and full of different work and learning opportunities.

    5/5

  • There was an entire induction week, a chance to develop analytic skills by a professional training institute, the opportunity to obtain soft skills in front facing roles and wide variety of other skills.

    5/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Subsidised Canteen

    National Travel

    3/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • With RBS since the organisation constantly goes to change to better itself for the future, there's always an opportunity to grow and move about the different teams and rapidly rise up within the organisation.

    4/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • There was a fantastic group of interns and often a night out organised by one of them weekly. There was also plenty of opportunity to carry out group lunches.

    4/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • London is quite expensive but again as long as you're careful with your spending it's fine.

    3/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • Vibrant

    5/5
