The Role
I really enjoyed my internship! Good hours, fun people and a challenging working environment meant that the internship was great! The only reason that I rated 9/10 because whilst I enjoyed the people, the location and my time there, the work could have been more stretching for me and more in depth.
I felt welcomed by the team and valued, they passed on key support work for me to do for them. I went on numerous team meals, and felt like a valued asset for the team. They included me in team meetings so that I could get insight into the business as a whole and I felt valued by the whole team.
I was given good support, and my manager had weekly catch-ups with me over coffee to make sure that I was getting on alright and to make sure that I was enjoying my time. They also gave good feedback on work that I produced and I felt well supported and guided through my time here.
It would depend on the current workload that I had. I tended to complete the work that I was set early and quickly and so there was time that I felt slightly bored, but it was a good balance, as I would prefer to sometimes be able to relax during my time than feel stressed to complete the work. I had one or two late nights but that was mainly due to personal targets set for work rather than management targets
This area was slightly lacking during my internship, I was given a project with limited impact or relevance and so I was running this part of the internship but I never felt like I was given good responsibility during my time here. I would say that the project I was given was fun and that I had control over how that would work, but for the majority of my business as usual work, I did not have much in the way of impact of responsibility.
The presentation skills that I learnt and the formatting that I learnt will be extremely useful to me in the future, and the technical skills I learnt will help me in my degree and future career. However, I did not receive very much training during my time, most of the skills I developed were because I developed them myself rather than attending training.
The Company
The atmosphere in my office was fun and relaxed, but still professional. Conversations could be had in a casual basis on a one to one and a group basis. It was a good atmosphere to work in and very supporting and conducive to professional work. I felt respected and treated fairly at all times.
I felt that the internship was very well organized, I would say that the internship was really well managed. I would however critique that we were given information about the following Graduate scheme after our mid internship review, and I would have preferred to have had that talk the week before our mid internship review, so that I could be better prepared going into this meeting. However the general internship felt well managed and set up well and plenty of time was offered to speak with the graduate recruiters.
I received very little training set up by the company, the training that I took part in was set up and managed by me. However there was a wealth of training and development material on their intranet and so I felt that there was a large amount of training that was available to me. I think that this is a better method than setting up large amounts of mandatory training sessions however.

Personally, I would enjoy future employment within the organization however I think that I am going to look at different lines of business as I did not feel very satisfied with this Line of business and I would have preferred a role that I thought was more challenging or could become more challenging in the future. However the corporate culture was excellent and the firm seems like a fantastic place to work.
The Culture
There was definitely a good social scene amongst the fellow interns, however as I was not in the local university halls it was harder for me to enjoy the social scene. My advice for anyone in the future would be to make sure that they are in local university halls or near the other interns accommodation.
Very cheap
Better nightlife than I expected
Plenty of opportunities were offered, however I found it difficult to get involved
