The Role
JP Morgan Technologies offer a huge variety of roles and responsibilities to take on, which brings down to the fact that every student can find a project of his liking to take on.
The colleagues were extremely friendly and allowed me to immerse into the group environment very quickly. And also, they were very helpful to teach me, and were also interested in learning from my skill set.
The manager was extremely helpful, even though I was not placed in a position that I applied to, he adjusted my projects to be more interesting to me and also provided me with other opportunities to join projects in other teams' projects and also shadow their work.
As an intern you have so many opportunities, it is a shame not to use them and learn about the company, or gain some more skills. Therefore, I took a lot of responsibilities to handle, thus making me very busy during the day.
I was given as much responsibility as my other team members and even more, I wasn't restricted to 'intern-only' projects and had a perfect experience of the teams' work, gaining full access to do the job without having to consult with someone on every step.
The skills gained will help me work more efficiently within a team, and also allow me to share my knowledge with my university friends.
The Company
The atmosphere was very good, and everyone greeted me with a smile and questions if I need any help with something, or how my work is going.
The organization of the internship could be reconsidered. It took a few days for us to set up/gain access to our workstations. The access levels were not given to us, thus took a while to get the access needed within the team.
The firm offers a large variety of training tutorials which can be attended by anyone, no matter your line of business.
Company Parties/Events
If I get the offer to work as a full time analyst after my internship, I will definitely consider joining JPMC, as the programme they offer is extremely interesting and allows a wide spread of skills to be gained.
The Culture
The participation between interns was excellent, from out of business activities, to activities, knowledge shares within the company.
The cost of living is fairly expensive and JPMC could provide better guidance about where to stay over during the internship, apart from one halls complex, where most of us stayed, however it was an expensive rent.
The nighlife quality was not too good, the clubs aren't good, however it is always full of people there.
Yes, there has been a number of activities outside of work, and it was well communicated to everyone.
