The Role
I was assigned for a few projects that are completely different from each other. So I got to apply different skills and knowledge to the projects and also got to learn new different things everyday. I really enjoyed learning new stuff and solving issues that raised on the projects.
The team that I sit in is open-minded and helpful. They provided me overview of the projects and not just threw the projects at me. They also helped me throughout the projects. I feel more valued in my team when I completed my work.
I had all the supports from my manager. He is both task-oriented and people-oriented. I felt like that I can openly talk to him when I have issues.
I constantly received tasks to do and I was not overloaded. I wished that I had been given more responsibilities.
I was given responsibilities to organize a few projects. Due to minimum knowledge that I have had, most responsibilities on the projects fall under my manager.
The most important skill that I learned and developed is people management; for example, my work deliverables should meet the target audiences' objectives.
The Company
It is an open-spaced office, so it is easy to had conversation with people face-to-face.
The internship programme is very organized and well-structured. It provided me several opportunities to attend the Global Senior speaker series such as Jamie Dimon, network with senior management team, volunteer, and socialize with other interns. There were also a number of training events that I had opportunities to attend.
J.P. Morgan is full of resources for personal training and development. The company has invest a lot into this, so it is up to the employees to take an advantage.
Company Parties/Events
Future employment at J.P. Morgan is very attractive. The Grad programme offers several training and social events to develop fundamental skills for us to be future leaders of the organization.
The Culture
Definitely. When I met my fellow interns on the assessment centre day, we all still keep in touch and had lunch/dinner together even though we work at different departments.
Living cost in Bournemouth is not bad, but it is not cheap compared to other cities like Manchester. The city is nice and there are lots of things to do.
N/A
Yes, there are many festival events in the summer. I have not done any water sports activities, but I believe there are many courses you can take. I went biking in the New Forests and sightseeing in Poole and Swanage.
